Title : Data Center Manager
Location: Toronto
Salary: 110k to 125k

Job Roll

Responsible for the day to day management and operation of the company's
Data Centers and Infrastructure including LAN, WAN, security, networking,
ESM, ,mail services, disaster recovery, personnel, and all hardware and
software.

The data centers must provide 7x24x365 availability.

The data centre manager will define and implement once approved,
comprehensive manuals and procedures for all aspect of the data centers
operation. The data center manager will also keep those procedure up-to-date
at all times.

The job will report to the Group CIO.

Local personnel and administration issues will be channel through the local
company president whilst keeping the CIO up to date at all times.

The data center manager will be responsible to identify risks and report
daily on all maters to the Group CIO

The job holder may be required to visit locations within the group worldwide
or any other companies or location as may be required by the business.


Education and Experience
Bachelor degree computer science or related field with 10 or more years of
related work experience in the following technical disciplines: VAX, UNIX,
Storage, Network, SBC, Security, MS Mail and server environment, Oracle
applications and database

Experience working within a tour Operator will be an advantage

Management
Effective planning and communication of business objectives to employees,
ensuring staff understand the current environment and its boundaries as well
as facilitating future changes. The job holder must have experience with at
least 2 proven full successful project life cycle.

Promote high morale and harmony within the department. Agree to clear
objectives for direct reports at annual appraisals. Ambitions promoting
commitment in a challenging and stimulating environment.

Faces pressure with calm and equanimity, maintains effectiveness and
provides a model for others.

Produce a detailed development plan prioritizing deliverables and scheduling
all members of the project team. Manage timelines and milestones, review
and manage interim and final deliverables. Oversee and manage external
influences and dependencies.


Communication Skills
Must have good command of the verbal and written English language with
ability to write clearly and concisely ensuring that all documents can be
clearly understood.

The job holder must be able to communicate clearly with all levels within
the company and within supplier organizations. Ensure that direct reports
are fully informed at all times.

Actively build and maintain a strong working relationship with supplier at
all levels.

Primary Responsibilities
1. Must to keep the CIO up to date on all maters at all time.
2. Responsible for generating and presenting metrics, reports, information,
and recommendations to CIO.
3. Responsible to monitor and manage worldwide datacenters and
infrastructure ensuring 24x7x365 availability of the system.
4. Manage Network Systems, Data Center and Technical Support.
5. Manage the operations and monitors all production applications to ensure
they are performing in accordance with specified technical requirements and
schedules
6. Responsible for coaching, and development of Network Operational Systems
personnel.
7. Act as the escalation manager throughout the process of restoring service
during service outages. Insure timely resolution to trouble tickets against
well define SLA(service level agreement)
8. Ensuring that at all times the equipment is properly maintained.
9. Ensuring all maintenance contracts are valid and in place.
10. Ensuring that all software subscription and maintenance contracts are
valid and in place.
11. Ensuring that at all times only legal hardware and software is in use.
12. Ensuing that the company's Terms and Condition are in use at all times
13. Work closely with other IT departments, and in particularly the TROPICS
team, to ensure successful delivery of TROPICS.
14. Responsibility for Data Center Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity
15. Responsibility for Securing and protecting data center assets.
16. Responsible for the physical security of the datacentre
17. Responsibility for multiple technical areas, including: Monitoring tools
and applications, network and communications infrastructure, storage area
networks, clustering, mail, security and SBC.
18. Maintain employee attendance records, assist with correction reports,
and conduct employee performance reviews. Manage the schedule and staff of
the Operations Center.
19. Conduct regular computer and equipment checks.
20. Regularly verify the backup by performing random restores to a test
systems.
21. Enforce company guidelines and procedures regarding to the data
centers.
22. Enforce the data protection act and/or Privacy Law at all times.
23. Coordinate the testing and implementation of all hardware and software
changes to insure minimal impact on production systems
24. Execute and analyze Customer Satisfaction Survey to improve customer
satisfaction and service levels.
25. Maintain on job training program for staff.
26. operate within approved budget and timetable
27. Develop and maintain a good image of the Company and particularly the
Company's IT Department with vendors, customers and employees.
28. Continually work to reduce costs resulting in a reduced budget. The
budget should be kept up to date at all times. The budget must be submitted
to the Group CIO.
29. All expenditures must have the CIO's prior approval regardless if they
are in the budget or not.
30. Submit to the CIO for approval all procedures, plans and guidelines for
all of the above before.
31. Submit all change requests to the CIO for approval.
32. Report to the CIO and the Head of Technology on all personnel problems
and any other problems as and when they occur.
33. Develop a team focus on delivering superior customer service to the
company
34. Main confidentiality at all times
35. Perform any other duties as assigned.
